DÉTENTE's ANN BOLEYN To Guest On KNAC.COM This Sunday

July 10, 2008

Singer Ann Boleyn (HELLION, DÉTENTE) will guest on KNAC.COM this Sunday, July 13 sometime between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Boleyn has been an industry fixture since the 1970s when she came to Los Angeles to perform with all-girl group THE RUNAWAYS. Soon after, she hosted her own radio show called "Speed Metal Hell" in 1977 on KROQ.

In 1982 after playing Hammond organ in a series of groups, Boleyn founded HELLION, and began singing after her band was unable to find a singer. In 1984, HELLION's self-titled demo was released on Music For Nations in England, where it landed #6 on the album charts and #2 Record of the Year in Kerrang! magazine. The group went on to tour with acts including WHITESNAKE, DIO, W.A.S.P., SLAYER, SOCIAL DISTORTION and others, but disbanded in 1992 after being dropped from its record label.

After a substantial absense from the music industry, Boleyn is back, this time frounting the reformed 1980s crossover act DÉTENTE, whose lead singer Dawn Crosby died in 1996. The reformed DÉTENTE includes original members Dennis Butler (drums),Steve Hochheiser (bass),and Caleb Quinn (guitar). DÉTENTE perfomed at this past weekend's Tidal Wave Festival in San Francisco and will be heading off to Europe later this month for a series of shows, including Germany's Headbangers Open Air festival.

Video footage of DÉTENTE — featuring vocalist Ann Boleyn — performing at the Tidal Wave Festival on July 5, 2008 at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater in San Francisco's McLaren Park can be viewed below (clip uploaded by YouTube user "Rudeness2006").
